Ledger Goes to Tulsa

Ledger spent a long weekend with BoomMa and BoomPa all by himself!  On Thursday, I met BoomPa in Bramen, OK and dropped off the big kid to spend the weekend away.  Of course, they planned lots of activity and did a great job of sending me pictures and texts regularly.  Ledger LOVED the one-on-one attention and when he came home, he talked about all of the fun things they had done.  They went to Incredible Pizza and played games.  They went to a Tulsa Drillers game with cousins Petyon and Carson. They even went to the Tulsa Children's Museum.  I'm proud of what a big kid he's become and BoomMa and BoomPa said he behaved very well!

Vlog: Locke on the slide

Since installing our own swingset in the backyard for Ledger's birthday, Locke has become very adept at climbing, sitting, and SLIDING all by himself.  He's so stinkin' cute when he does it, but it worries Mommy that he's so darn precocious!  Ahh, that's the way with babies growing up.  So, here's some cute little videos of Locke sliding down the slide at the lake... all by himself!

Roller Derby -- First Bout

In February, I started skating with the Salina Sirens Roller Derby team.  After months of learning how to fall correctly, hit correctly, skate in a pack, and basically stay on my feet I finally passed my minimum skills test and was cleared to skate in competitions.  I also had to choose a skater name -- which proved to be very difficult -- and finally settled on: DR. BLOCKAPUSS #w00f.  The first bout that I was active for was our July 6th "Yellow Brick Roll" mashup.  A mashup is a friendly competition where we invite players from other nearby teams and divide the numbers up evenly -- so it's not a true "team" match, but more of a fun/friendly exhibition match.  So not only do I have to play against some of my own team members, but I have to meet new girls and play along side them for the first time!  Needless to say, I was nervous.  Ridiculous, stomach-churning, nervous.  But, the bout turned out awesome!!  I played for the "Emerald" team (against the "Rubies") and after a tough battle, the Emeralds pulled off an amazing come-from-behind victory in the last minutes of the bout!  Dr. Blockapuss had a huge (loud!) cheering section at the bout, including Oma, Emily, Josh, Pam, Steve, Shawn, Jarod & Briana, Damon, the Daily family, and (of course) Chris, Ledger and Locke.  I am so appreciative of everyone's support -- it made me feel so great.

Firework Fun Time

This 4th of July was a little different as we were trying to be in multiple places at once.  We were happy to have the Perkins and Guy families both join us at the lake -- it's been a while since we've all been together! As with tradition, we shot off fireworks at Great-Grammie's house in Lindsborg.  Ledger is at a fun age where he follows around the big kids and wants to do everything they are doing.  As long as there is some adult supervision around, that's OK with me!

Check out that big stack of fireworks!!

Jonas and Ledger -- cousins goofin' off before the action starts.

We had to buy the "Cybertron" transformers firework as soon as we saw it for sale.

Miss Kinley's ornery grin!

Run!  It's lit...

.... watching it do it's thing.

Which Ledger chased down and got the day chute!
