Fun in the Sun

This weekend we invited a few friends out to the lake to soak up some Vitamin D.  Jarod, Briana, and Damon all joined us out at Lake Kanopolis.  The water was way too rough to do much wakeboarding, so instead we broke out the tube.  We even put Ledger on the tube -- his FIRST tubing experience.  He didn't care about it too much -- actually he just kept his eyes closed because the sun was in his face.  I think that's a much better first tubing experience than having him crying and screaming the entire time!  After we were all "tubed" out, we found a parking space and threw the football around on the beach for a while.  It felt so good to spend a little time in the sun.  It's been hot here this week, but I sorta love this weather -- it's really summer time!

4th of July

We had a very good 4th of July weekend last weekend.  We celebrated at Lake Kanopolis with the Hensleys and Perkins'.  The weather wasn't cooperative and it rained most of the weekend.  We managed to get in a little bit of boat time and Josh, Chris, and even ME all got out on the wakeboard.  Ledger enjoyed his time on the boat too, although he was a little concerned with his family being out in the water behind the boat.

Ledger didn't get out into the water much, although he did find a small body of water that he LOVES -- the dog bowl.  We took a lot of pictures of the kid playing with the hose and the dog bowl.  A few of the photos are posted below.

We did watch the lake fireworks show on Sunday.  Ledger watched the first five minutes and then curled up on Mommy and fell asleep.  By the end of the show, it started to spit rain on us, but it didn't even wake the kid up.  All-in-all, we had a great weekend.

Home, but not rested...

We made the long trek home from Colorado on Monday and on Tuesday, we got right back into the swing of things here at home.  I have had a very busy week at work and Chris and Ledger have been busy getting Mr. Michel's aquarium set up for his classroom.  We are still living out of a suitcase, as neither one of us has had enough energy in the evenings to unpack.  Go figure. :)  Maybe we'll just keep our bags packed for our upcoming Hawaii vacation...

We celebrated Daddy's birthday this week by eating out with Grammie and Grandpa Michel.  Ledger got Daddy a pair of Oakley sunglasses, which Daddy loves. ;)

My laptop screen is still cracked.  I could buy a new one online, but I'm not sure if I am capable of making the switch.  It's much more complicated than I originally thought.  Taking it to a repair shop is an option, but I'm afraid of what they might charge.  Heck, I could get a new laptop for $400.  It's hard for me to justify spending $200 on a new screen!  I don't know what I'll do.  Chris wants to get an iPad, of course, but I'm not sure about that yet.

Hopefully I will have some fun pictures of our Fourth of July weekend and I will make time to get them posted next week!

Colorado Vacation - Day 7

This morning we woke up early to head back to Garden of the Gods to see if we could get there to take some pictures before the park was flooded with people.  Our pictures turned out awesome because we had the place to ourselves.  Then we headed up to Helen Hunt falls.  It was an amazing trip up the mountain to see it and we really enjoyed the views.  Even Ledger loved the waterfall!  We spent the afternoon swimming and hanging out with the family.  Overall, today was a fantastic day.  Relaxing and enjoyable.

Colorado Vacation - Day 5 & 6

Since I've been working with a borrowed laptop, my blogging has been sub-standard.  I apologize!  We have been busy running around the Colorado Springs area.  Thursday, we had a morning outing to Manitou Springs.  We walked around the old downtown area and window-shopped.  We posed for our annual "Old Tyme" photo with Jaime and I dressed as Southern Belles and Chris, Chris, and Ledger dressed as northern soldiers.  It was actually a pretty good picture. :)  We also took some family pictures on the old town stairs.  They didn't turn out quite as well as I would have liked.  But here they are:

We also had a girls-only shopping afternoon with Pam, Jaime, Kim and myself.  Pam bought us all new Vera Bradley purses -- I really like my new one! (Thanks, Pam!).  On Friday, we went to Garden of the Gods this morning to take a few pictures.  It was pretty crowded and Ledger was ready for his morning nap, so we cut it short.  We spent the afternoon at the Citadel mall and managed to escape with most of our money in tact.  This evening, we drove around town with the windows down and enjoyed the 75 degree weather.  That's right -- SEVENTY FIVE DEGREES!! :)  We're going to try to enjoy our next few days and just sorta relax a little bit before we make the trek home.

Colorado Vacation -- Day 4

Today started off a little rough -- my laptop slipped off my lap while I was trying to balance baby and computer and it CRACKED MY SCREEN!!  I am so mad!  So I am blogging from Chris' laptop and trying to load pictures onto his computer, but it's slow and I can't upload to picasaweb from here.  Please bear with me!

Today we hit the incredible Cheyenne Mountain Zoo here in Colorado Springs.  Despite a few minor setbacks (like I completely forgot our stroller - so we rented- and I forgot sunscreen - so we borrowed from cousin Kim) we had a really cool day.  I was most looking forward to getting to feed the giraffes and to let Ledger see it too.  Unfortunately, he didn't love the giraffes.  In fact, they kinda scared him.  Oh well, we'll try again next time we're here. :)  He did like spending time with cousin Connor and being passed from person to person to see all of the exhibits.  At the end of our day, we too the "Sky Ride" which is basically a ski lift that takes you over the whole zoo to a viewing platform that overlooks the Colorado Springs area.  I was a little nervous to take Ledger up there, but he fell asleep halfway up, which made it quite a bit easier!  :)  He really has been such a good boy this week!
