Colorado Vacation 2012 - Casa Bonita and Manitou Springs

This year, we were lucky enough to have another Michel family vacation to Colorado.  This is a trip that Chris' family has been taking for more than 20 years and it is always special to get to share all of their family traditions with our new family.  Thanks to Pam and Steve for planning this vacation and making it possible for our family!

We drove all day on Sunday to arrive in Denver by 5pm.  Our new minivan was perfect for this trip -- so much room for bags, kids, and family.  (I am loving our minivan more and more every day -- especially the remote controlled doors and stow and go seating!)  We met up with all of our Colorado family at Casa Bonita for dinner.  We haven't been all together for more than two years.  Chase Hindman is 15 and I swear he's grown a foot since I last saw him!  The cousins, Chase, Brady, Connor, and Ledger all played together by tossing coins into the fountains outside of Casa Bonita and kept themselves entertained after dinner in the arcades.  It's so fun to see Ledger trailing after his bigger cousins wanting to do everything they do.  I can't wait until Locke is big enough to participate too!

Our whole crew together -- we are only missing Jaime!

We spent Monday and Tuesday recovering from a busy week (River Festival, bought a house, drove to Denver...) and eating at some of the Michels favorite restaurants.  We went to The Mason Jar, Fargos, and tried to go to Giuseppe's but were sad to find out that it had closed.

Fargo's.

Ledger loved the pasta at Fargo's.

We took this picture at Giuseppe's before we realized it was closed. :(
Tuesday evening, we visited downtown Manitou Springs for dinner and to just walk around and browse the shop windows.  It's such a quaint little shopping area with an eclectic mix of shops, art displays, and entertainment.  We love it!

  1. That was a wonderful day, too. I don't think I can pick a favorite one ~ it was just so great to be with all our family (except for Jaime) and to share the things about Colorado that we love doing.
